Province of Alicante

This province is situated in the south part. It is the smallest and the most populated in the Region of Valencia.  The capital is Alicante city. This area has a population of about 1,825,332 inhabitants. It consists of 141 towns and you can find 9 Natural Parks such as Marjal de Pego- Oliva, El Montgó, Serra de Mariola, Font Roja, Peñón de Ifach, Serra Gelada, Las Salinas de Santa Pola, El Hondo, Las Lagunas de la Mata- Torrevieja.

Las Hogueras de San Juan ( The Bonfires of San Juan) is the main festivity of Alicante, which is held from the 20th to 24th of June coincinding with the summer solstice to welcome the summer. Las Hogueras are monuments that are set up in the streets and later they  go up on smoke on the 24th. It was declared Festival of International Tourist Interest.

Like Las Falleras Mayores in Valencia, Las Reinas (the Queens) in Castellón, the main representative of the festival of this area are Las Belleas del Foc (the Beautiful of fire).
