This province is situated in the northern part of the Region of Valencia. Castellón de la Plana is the capital city. This area has a population of about 575,470 inhabitants. It consist of 135 towns and you can find 7 Natural Parks such as Tinença de Benifassà, Serra d´Irta, Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca, Desert de les Palmes, Serra d´Espadà, Penyagolosa and Islas Columbretes.
The main festivals of this province are Fiestas de la Magdalena, which are held in Castellón de la Plana from the third Saturday of Lent and they last 9 days. It commemorates the origins of the city, when the citizens moved from the mountain to the fertile plain in 1251. This festivities were is declared to be of International Tourist Interest in 2010.
